Crosland's go Rotary

Crosland Cutters has a new baby!

5 years in the making, after much umming and ahing, a little due diligence and a boat load of cash, it is with great pleasure that we can introduce Crosland’s new Serviform Rotary Rule Processor, which has finally arrived.

Crosland Cutters purchased this, the third Serviform, from our good friends at Partwell with whom Croslands has collaborated on many occasions.

The new Rotary Rule Processor now gives Crosland Cutters the ability to bend rotary rule from 177mm in dia to 650mm in dia.

With more and more corrugated plants converting to rotary die cutting, it was thought prudent to make the investment. The investment makes Crosland Cutters only the 7 ^th company in the UK with the facility to manufacture Rotary Dies and only the 5 ^th with a Rotary Rule Processor!

Crosland Cutters ISO Status.

After much deliberation and collaboration with customers, Crosland Cutters has decided not to renew its ISO certification.

Although it is something we strived to achieve it boiled down to return on investment and time taken to maintain.

Crosland Cutters has now been trading for 52 years, in which time we hope to have set a certain level of standards, to which we intend to continue to use and improve upon.

Our decision was not taken lightly and will by no means affect our high standard of workmanship and service.

Crosland celebrates 50 years of die making!

In 1972 Crosland Cutters was born and supplied its first multi piece die, at the same time that Hewlett Packard introduced its first hand held calculator. Both companies are still going strong! Although we cannot account for HP.

Technology has advanced. As well as hand held calculators, we now have 2 x 2500kw laser and 5 rule processors in our arsenal, enabling Crosland Cutters to produce unrivalled dies, quickly, efficiently and, most of all, cost effectively.

Several members of the team have been here for over 40 years each, which gives us a great deal of hands on knowledge, which has been passed down to our newest members. Hopefully they should be with us for the next 50 years, which will take them into their 70’s….only 10 years to official retirement…by then!

Lord only knows what the world will look like in 50 years but be assured Crosland Cutters will still be here.

After 49 years of trading, Crosland Cutters (forme & die makers) has been awarded not only ISO 9001 but with some help from our friends at QSL in Worcester, ISO 14001.

So not only are we now officially competent but enviromentally friendly with it!

Heres to the next 50 years of die/forme making!

Crosland Cutters is pleased to announce the arrival of its new Serviform EcoGiant, and in doing so furthering its continued investment in technology benefitting our customers in accuracy and speed. The EcoGiant is faster and more accurate thanks to a new bending system. It is the perfect choice for the dieshop, such as ours, that is looking for flexibility, reliability and superior quality manufacturing. Capable of processing rule from 22.5 to 60.00, the Serviform EcoGiant comes with the latest development of die preparation software so is quicker to use and allows the user to select and define dies faster and in a smarter, more efficient way. Crosland Cutters required a more efficient turnaround time. The Serviform EcoGiant has enabled us to turnaround a large percentage of work within the same day which we previously wouldn’t have been able to do. Most importantly, the wastage of steel rule has dropped from 30% to 5%, meaning the potential for even further investment. When making an investment in machinery, it is important to feel that you are in safe hands, Crosland Cutters felt that this was the case with Serviform and continues to be so. We are confident that “the service is there at all times” with Serviform and they can always provide “exceedingly good products”.

A brand new Mechtronic Laser System with a 3rd Generation Rofin laser has been installed into a Birmingham based cutting forme manufacturer.

Halesowen based Crosland Cutters recently took delivery of the new state of the art laser system as part of an ongoing investment plan to improve efficiency and capacity in a growing market place. The new equipment is 20% more efficient, uses less power and achieves greater running speed, it is hoped that the Laser will improve the green credentials of Croslands Cutters. The system also incorporates a Rotary die cutting facility, developed in conjunction between Croslands and Mechtronic Industries which utilises a cantilever style lifting mechanism to raise the Rofin laser head from 0 to 650mm. The rotary facility is now the only manufacturing resource of its size in the Midlands area, the nearest similar manufacturing facility being in Stockport to the North & Chelmsford to the South. Croslands has already created 4 new jobs, taking on 2 new apprentices, 1 new member of the office team and 1 member in the finishing department and is hoping to employ several more over the next 12 months. “The new laser will breathe fresh life into Crosland Cutters, opening up new opportunities and allowing us to enter new market places, while maintaining our existing customers”. Crosland Cutters was founded in 1972 and has built a solid reputation in supplying dieboards and to a range of industries including aerospace, automotive, retail, point-of-sale and jigsaw puzzle manufacturers to name a few, supplying finished boards in a turn-around time of 48 hours or less. In order to capture a larger share of the market and to implement their ongoing investment plan, Crosland Cutters purchased this second laser system. Having previously bought their first laser cutter from Mechtronic Limited in 2000, they had been very happy with the reliability and low maintenance of the machine and ROFIN laser source combination.
